Man arrested in connection with Boston hit-and-run that killed college student

A 36-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night in connection with a hit-and-run in Roxbury that killed a 20-year-old student at Fisher College, Boston Police said.

Christopher Baker, who is homeless, is charged with manslaughter, motor vehicle homicide, two counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and leaving the scene of a crash causing personal injury and death. He is expected to be arraigned on the charges Thursday morning.

Baker is accused of hitting Taylor Wilkinson and her sister with a car on Washington Street in lower Roxbury on Jan. 18. Officers responded to a report that a car had struck a pedestrian at 1829 Washington St. around 8:30 p.m. that day.

At the time of the crash, police say Baker was behind the wheel of a 2021–2023 dark-colored Mercedes.

Wilkinson’s death was mourned by Fisher College President Steven Rich as an “unimaginable loss.”

Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden called her death the “saddest of tragedies” for her friends and family.
