Man arrested after doing doughnuts, driving into ocean on Mass. beach, police say

A 21-year-old man was arrested after making multiple trips to Nahant Beach Reservation, where he was found doing doughnuts and driving into the ocean, according to police in the North Shore town.

Nahant police went to Nahant Beach Reservation around 1:45 p.m. Thursday after learning of a vehicle doing doughnuts in the sand at Long Beach. The man made “multiple trips” onto the beach, driving at a high speed near several pedestrians, doing doughnuts and driving into the ocean, Police Chief Timothy Furlong said.

No pedestrians were injured.

The man is facing several criminal charges, including operating under the influence of liquor, assault with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest, Furlong said in a statement.

The man, a resident of neighboring Lynn, was arraigned Friday.
