Luka Doncic, Anthony Davis traded by Lakers, Mavericks in blockbuster (report)

The Lakers and Mavericks shocked the NBA world ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline. In one of the biggest trades in recent memory, Luka Doncic is headed to the Lakers while Anthony Davis was sent to the Mavs, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The Lakers are getting Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris in the deal. Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round Lakers pick is going to Dallas. The Jazz, a third team in the deal, are getting Jalen Hood-Schifino, a 2025 Clippers second-round pick and a 2025 Mavs second-round pick.

That shakes up the West in a major way. Doncic is one of the bright young stars in the league, fresh off leading the Mavs to the 2024 NBA Finals. But the Mavs are instead moving on from their superstar.

The Lakers are in win-now mode with LeBron James still at the helm, and now Doncic will be paired up with one of the greatest players of all-time. It’s a deal that should shake up the NBA sphere for years going forward.
