Los Angeles Rams informed star wide receiver they intend to trade him this offseason

Cooper Kupp and the Los Angeles Rams will go their separate ways this offseason.

The star wide receiver posted a statement to X on Monday night that the Rams will try to trade him.

Here’s his full statement:

“I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.

“Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember.

“I have taken so much pride in playing alongside my teammates for the LA community, so thank you for embracing my family and making this such a special place for us.

“2024 began with one of the best training camps of my career. Preparations start now for 2025. Highly motivated, as healthy as ever, and looking forward to playing elite football for years to come. Love you guys..

“But coming for it all.”

Kupp has two years left on his three-year deal with the Rams and is guaranteed $5 million. After Los Angeles’ NFC Division game loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, it’s unclear what direction the Rams will go and if Kupp is involved in their future plans.

“I feel like I’ve got a lot of good football left in me,” Kupp told reporters, via ESPN. “I’ll be playing football next year. That much I know. … I don’t have any clarity on what that’s going to look like or anything like that. So yeah, obviously would love to be in L.A., but I don’t know what that’s going to look like.”

The New England Patriots could benefit from having someone like Kupp on their roster.

The Patriots have $130 million in cap space going into the offseason as they retool their roster and try to return to the playoffs after a three-year absence. Fitting Kupp into the roster wouldn’t be an issue financially, but New England would need to put together a trade package that the Rams deem worthy enough to part with their wide receiver.

Kupp would also add a veteran wideout for quarterback Drake Maye as he enters Year 2.

Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne is one person who would like to see Kupp in New England.

“Come to NE @CooperKupp we’ll take care of u lol all the targets!,” the New England wide receiver posted to X in January.

Bourne and Kupp were teammates at Eastern Washington University until 2016 when Kupp was selected by the Rams in the 2017 NFL Draft.

It’s unclear what teams will be interested in Kupp, but his NFL career will likely continue with a new team come 2025.
