Longmeadow – The Longmeadow Parks & Recreation Department presents the following upcoming programs.

Free Presentation: The Food Neutral Kitchen. Join a Registered Dietitian at 6 p.m. on Feb. 7 at the Longmeadow Adult Center, 211 Maple Road, for a discussion about diet culture, food neutrality and how to embrace a positive relationship with food. This discussion will prompt a deeper dive into your own relationship with food, how it formed, and how much of an impact we can have on the future generation by using food neutral language. Registration is strongly encouraged by calling the Longmeadow Adult Center at 413-565-4150, Option #1, in case of weather cancellations or other updates. This presentation is free to the public and sponsored by the Longmeadow Parks & Recreation Department.

Be On the Lookout! Longmeadow Parks & Recreation Department will be posting some summer job opportunities soon for ages 15 and up. They will be looking for Pool Managers, Lifeguards, Camp Counselors and more. They offer competitive wages. Check www.lprd.net often over the next few weeks for information on how to apply.

February School Vacation Youth Enrichment: Art-ventures My Animal, Me & Clay Safari, Grades K-5, Feb. 20, 9 a.m. to noon. Mad Science Moving, Motion and Fundamental Forces, Feb. 21, 9 a.m. to noon. Food Explorers Half Day Cooking Camp, Grades 2-5, Feb. 22, 9 a.m. to noon. Registration deadline is Feb. 14 at www.lprd.net.

Karate – Shotokan Style, Ages 14 & Up: The study of karate is an inner search for growth and self-discipline, which encompasses many ideals. All instruction and certification are authentic and directly affiliated with SKIF Japan, one of the largest and finest karate organizations in the world. Instructor: Sensei James Shea, 7th Dan SKIF (more than 47 years’ experience). Next session begins Feb. 27 and meets Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m., Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. Registration deadline is Feb. 21 at www.lprd.net.

Springfield Thunderbirds Discount Tickets: Now available at the Parks & Recreation Main Office on 231 Maple Rd. (The Greenwood Center). Vouchers are redeemable for yellow tier “Center Value” seats for any home Thunderbirds Hockey game at the MassMutual Center. Cost is $25 per voucher and may only be purchased in person.
