A $15 million prize claimed from the Massachusetts State Lottery’s 300x game on Thursday is the single largest prize won in the Bay State in 2024.
The previous high was a $5.37 million prize won from a Megabucks drawing held on May 4. The $30 “300x” scratch ticket has just a 1 in 5.4 million chance of winning its grand prize of $15 million.
The winning ticket was sold in Topsfield at the convenience store Country Farms on Main Street. The chances of winning the top prize in the game are 1 in 5.4 million, according to the lottery. The winning ticket claimed on Thursday represents the only time the largest prize in the game has been won.
Of the three total $15 million winners, two now remain, according to the lottery.
In “300X,” players win a prize anytime they match one of their numbers to one of the winning numbers. Players can win 2, 5, 10, 20 or 300 times their prize depending on what multiplier is on their ticket. The chance of winning any prize in that game is roughly 1 in 3.
Overall, at least 518 prizes worth $600 or more were won or claimed in Massachusetts on Thursday, including 11 in Springfield, 12 in Worcester and 47 in Boston.
The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of winning tickets every day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.
