The unexpected phone calls came on a Friday, the week before country superstar Kenny Chesney would be performing for three nights at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
Chesney and his charitable foundation were quietly making donations to several Massachusetts non-profit organizations. By the time Chesney took the stage for the first show on Aug. 23, he had donated more than $1 million across the state, MassLive has learned.
