BOSTON — After missing four straight games (and seven of the team’s last 10) with a bone bruise in his left heel, designated hitter Justin Turner is back in the Red Sox lineup Saturday as Boston looks for its fourth win in a row.
Turner is the DH, batting third, against Tigers righty Matt Manning. He’s back but shortstop Trevor Story has the day off as the Red Sox continue to work him back slowly in his return from offseason elbow surgery. Story went 3-for-7 with a double and a steal in the last two games. Pablo Reyes is at shortstop in his place (and hitting sixth).

In a departure from the norm, Alex Verdugo is back in the leadoff spot for the first time since July 6. Jarren Duran is hitting seventh against Manning. Verdugo has had a good August, hitting .286 with two doubles, a homer and an .808 OPS. Duran has just one hit in his last seven games and is 1-for-21 with eight strikeouts since Aug. 5.
Righty Brayan Bello will start for the Red Sox, who have won four of their last five games and are back to three games behind the Blue Jays for the third and final wild card spot in the American League. First pitch is at 4:10 p.m. ET.
