The Red Sox are one of seven teams so far that has already “called on” free agent slugger Juan Soto, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.
Soto, who is represented by super agent Scott Boras, is the top free agent on the market and “could command close to $700M,” per Heyman.

He just turned 26 and posted a .989 OPS with 41 homers, 31 doubles, four triples and a 7.9 bWAR for the Yankees in 2024.
Heyman named the Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Blue Jays, Giants and Rays (a surprise team) as the seven that have called about him.
Heyman wrote, “Word is they (the Red Sox) are quietly laying the groundwork to begin spending and competing again after completely laying low for years.”
