They almost did, when a Charlie McAvoy giveaway gave Winnipeg the puck deep. But Jeremy Swayman’s terrific kick save on Nikolaj Ehlers kept the Bruins ahead. The Jets kept coming early in the third and Swayman kept thwarting them. He made 12 third-period saves to help backbone a statement 4-1 win on Monday at TD Garden.

“It was a nice goalie game to be a part of. Every time you don’t see a lot of rubber, you just have to stay in the moment,” said Swayman, who spent most of the game in pitchers’ duel with Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck. “Any moment could be a Grade A (chance). Stay in the moment and make sure you’re making saves.”

Jim Montgomery tipped his cap to his goalie.

“They really pushed the first four minutes and he made at least two really good saves and another one afterward, a pad save,” he said. “He shut the door down. It was nice to see.”

It was Swayman’s fourth straight win. He’s allowed just three goals in the last three games.

“I’m having so much fun playing hockey. It’s just having fun and enjoying the moment,” he said. “That’s when I play my best.”
