Injured Bruins forward will miss rest of road trip

Mark Kastelic was sent back to Boston and will miss the remainder of the Bruins‘ western road trip.

Interim coach Joe Sacco confirmed that Kastelic was not with the team while he battles and upper-body injury.

Sacco didn’t have a timetable for his return.

The Bruins have four more games on this trip. It’s unclear if they’ll make another call-up to replace him. Fabian Lysell, who was called up last week, but didn’t play in Thursday’s loss at Vegas will replace him in a reconfigured lineup.

Kastelic has been a bright spot on the fourth line for the Bruins after coming to Boston in the trade for Linus Ullmark. He has five goals and nine assists in 61 games. Both are career highs.

He’s been among the Bruins’ most physical players and willing fighters. He missed time in late January with a concussion.

It’s unclear when the injury occurred. Kastelic played a normal amount of shifts and minutes against the Golden Knights.
