National Grid is aiming to help customers better read and understand their bills with a new design.
Over Memorial Day weekend, National Grid will upgrade its billing system with “an easier-to-read design,” the energy provider said online.
The new bills will have a new, 10-digit National Grid account number that will be found in the top right corner of the bill and in customers’ online profiles.
Once customers get their new bill, they will have to update their payment instructions with the new account number if they pay through their bank. Those who pay their bill by check must ensure the payment slip is included and put the account number in the memo field.
National Grid customers do not have to make any changes to their payment methods if they use DirectPay, National Grid My Account, National Grid My Business Account, National Grid’s automated phone system, Speedpay or Western Union and all other third-party payment services.
Some services will be unavailable as National Grid makes the changes. Enrollment and unenrollment from Paperless Billing and DirectPay will be unavailable through May 27 and online billing will be unavailable from May 22-27. The website will return to normal business operations and will display customers’ new account numbers on May 28.
