Tennessee’s upset of Houston was the most significant result of the early window. It was not only a win but a good win for the Titans that improved their record and strength of schedule. Cleveland upset Pittsburgh earlier in the week.
Carolina, who had the league’s worst record last year, was tied with the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs inside the last two minutes before Kansas City escaped.
The Raiders led Denver early but fell apart late.
Dallas moved further away from the top with its fourth win of the season.
Projected Draft order
The Sunday night and Monday night games won’t affect early picks. So here’s what the top of the projected draft order looks like. Included is each team’s strength of schedule (the aggregate winning percentage of a team’s opponents compiled by Tankathon) so far. The team who played the schedule with the lowest winning percentage would be awarded the higher pick:
- Jaguars — Jacksonville is 2-9. (SOS .492) – on a bye.
- Giants — 2-9 (SOS .516) — lost to Tampa, 30-7.
- Raiders — 2-9 (SOS .538) lost to the Broncos.
- Patriots — 3-9 (SOS .475) lost to Miami, 34-15.
- Panthers — 3-8 (SOS .492) lost to Kansas City, 30-27.
- Titans — 3-8 (SOS .505) upset the Texans.
- Jets — 3-8 (SOS .505) on a bye.
- Browns — 3-8 (SOS .514) upset the Steelers on Thursday
