How Longmeadow’s independent schedule powered team to boys lacrosse state title

The final three minutes of regulation between Longmeadow and Marshfield in the Division II boys lacrosse state championship showcased every reason why the Lancers decided to play an independent schedule this spring.

Longmeadow trailed by a goal, had the ball and a two-man advantage with time ticking down. The Lancers controlled the ball for over a minute of game time, moving it around the outside of the Rams’ defensive formation while Lancer players cut off-ball, around the crease and through the middle of the defense, looking for an open shot.
