The westbound side of Route 20 in Palmer was closed on Thursday afternoon as firefighters battled a structure fire on Wilbraham Street in the town, according to the Palmer Fire Department.
First responders were still on scene battling the blaze as of 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 3, the department said, at 321 Wilbraham St., MassDOT reported. Mutual aid was called to help bring more water and people to fight the fire, the fire department said.
321 Wilbraham St. is located off Rte. 20, tucked beyond a thick grove of trees, according to Google Maps.
The fire appears to be at a wooden home with a metal roof, according to images shared on the fire department’s Facebook page. Smoke can be seen pouring from the windows of the structure.
MassDOT stated the Rte. 20 closure would cause traffic delays. The Palmer Fire Department did not immediately respond for comment, and it is unclear whether there are any injuries from the fire.
