Here’s when it could cool down on Thursday in Mass.

After what seemed to be a never-ending stretch of intense heat and humidity in Massachusetts, the Bay State will finally see some relief on Thursday when a cold front sweeps through, bringing with it more comfortable summer heat.

National Weather Service forecasters say the cold front will slowly make its way across the region on Thursday, meaning the relief it brings likely won’t be felt until the afternoon.

“Temperatures will be warm but not as warm as days past,” forecasters wrote, adding that the real difference will be evening and overnight temperatures, which could tumble all the way down to the high 50s.

In Boston, Worcester and Springfield forecasters project high temperatures around 88 degrees on Thursday. By 8 p.m. in Boston, the temperature will fall to about 82 degrees. In Worcester, temperatures will plunge below 80 degrees by 8 p.m., with forecasters saying residents of the Central Massachusetts city can expect temperatures around 77 degrees at that time.

By 8 p.m. in Springfield, the temperature will have fallen to 76 degrees, according to the weather service.

It will be significantly cooler in The Berkshires, with Pittsfield forecasted for a high around 80 degrees, according to the weather service. And on Cape Cod, the high temperature on Thursday will be 83 degrees.

And on Friday temperatures will fall even further, a day forecasters called “the pick of the week.”

In Boston and Worcester, the forecasted high is 83 degrees. In Springfield, it’s 84 degrees. In Pittsfield and Barnstable, temperatures are expected to max out around 80 degrees.

Residents of the Bay State can also expect a “dry and pleasant weekend” with no rain in the forecast.
