Four people, including a grandmother and her grandchildren, were injured in a rollover crash involving a Pittsfield police cruiser on Sunday, according to a release from the Pittsfield Police Department.
Officers were responding for a reported disturbance off Cheshire Road when they crashed into 2023 Jeep Wrangler at the Coltsville intersection around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15, police said.
The Jeep was going west while the cruiser was going north on Merrill Road, according to police. The cruiser had its lights and siren on, according to the release.
The Jeep was being driven by a 57-year-old woman from Peru, Massachusetts. Her two grandchildren were also in the car, police said. The impact caused the Jeep to spin and rollover onto its driver side, police added.
Everyone inside the Jeep was brought to Baystate Medical Center for minor injuries and released, police said. One of the officers was also brought the the hospital for minor injuries and released.
The crash closed part of the intersection for about an hour, police said. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lt. Marc Maddalena at 413-448-9700 ext 575.
