The family of an 18-year-old father who was shot and killed in Fall River over the weekend is trying to raise money to support his two children left behind, according to an online fundraiser.
Luz Perez, the aunt of Jiovanni Perez, said her nephew “was full of life” and “such an amazing person,” in a GoFundMe campaign she organized on behalf of the 18-year-old’s children, who are ages 3 and 1.
“Due to this unexpected tragedy, I am asking for your help in donations,” Luz wrote on the campaign page. “Any amount will help give my nephew a memorable and special funeral service.”
The GoFundMe is looking to raise $10,000. People can donate by clicking here.
Jiovanni was shot and killed in the area of 253 Locust St. around 12:18 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
The Fall River and East Weymouth man was rushed to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 1:40 p.m., the district attorney’s office said in its statement.
“Although no suspect is in custody at this moment, the investigation is extremely active,” Quinn’s office noted.
Massachusetts State Police and the Fall River Police Department are investigating the homicide. No further information about the shooting was immediately released to the public.
