The Massachusetts state police rescued four people from a sinking boat off Peddocks Island on Sunday.
Around 4:50 a.m. a mayday was broadcast from a pleasure boat that was off the north side of Peddocks Island in Boston Harbor, the Massachusetts State Police said.
Two state police marines who were on patrol in the area responded to the signal made by the sinking boat between Quarantine Rocks and Sculpin Ledge Channel, state police said.
The four passengers had put on life jackets and had radioed that they were abandoning their boat, state police said. When the state police reached the 41-foot cabin cruiser, the four passengers were just entering the water.
The four boaters — two adult men and women, were transferred onto a marine boat and transported to a Charlestown marina, the Massachusetts state police said. Boston EMS evaluated one passenger for a small laceration, but there were no other injuries. Currently, authorities do not know the cause of the sunken boat.
