Former Northampton VA worker who distributed child sex abuse images is sentenced

A former employee of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Northampton’s Leeds village was sentenced to eight years in prison and five years of supervised release in Springfield federal court, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

The Royalston man, Kevin Divoll, was sentenced in connection with the distribution of child sex abuse material while using a device over the VA medical center’s Wi-Fi from May 2022 through July 2022, according to federal investigators.

Kevin Divoll, 51, was also ordered to pay $5,000 each to the two identified victims. He pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography in April.

Authorities searched Divoll’s home in Aug. 4, and they reportedly found him to be in possession of child sex abuse images of two prepubescent minors. Divoll was later arrested and charged after the search of his home.

The distribution charge has a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and up to 20 years in prison, at least five years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.

The charge of possession of an image of child sexual abuse, involving a minor under the age of 12 years old, yields up to 20 years in prison, at least five years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
