Foggy Sunday morning forecast for Massachusetts, chance of a pop-up thunderstorm in the afternoon

As Fourth of July weekend comes to a close, Massachusetts residents can expect a warm and muggy Sunday with some fog in the morning and possible pop-up thunderstorms or showers in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The service warns of fog Sunday morning across much of the state, from eastern Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden Counties and southern Worcester County to all of Norfolk, Bristol, Plymouth, Barnstable, Nantucket and Dukes Counties. Visibility could be as low as a quarter mile at times, though some of the fog is expected to lift by mid-morning.

Drivers should be prepared to encounter sudden changes in visibility, the weather service advises. It recommends that they use their low beam lights in foggy areas and always keep a safe distance between them.
