Flea market finds: Some of the rarest, oldest items at Brimfield Flea Market’s Sept. show

The Brimfield Flea Market has been a Hampden County seasonal-staple since 1959, and being both New England’s largest and oldest outdoor flea market, visitors have come to hold the show to a high-standard for its eclectic and diverse range of treasures.

While some treasures may be notable for their distinct style, others are for their rarity, age or origin story.

“Anything you can imagine, you can get here,” long time dealer Glen Donohue told MassLive this week. “Sometime you get things that are hard to part with. You just know you’re never going to see something like that ever again.”

This September showing offered its own share of oddities, curiosities and rarities.

Among some of the oldest and most unique items were antique baby quilts dating back as far as 1847, a vintage sculpture designed by American artist Fredrick Hart and a sewing sample dating back to 1805.

Other treasures included marriage certificates dating back to 1896 and comic collections of the original Star Wars comic series. See more in the photo gallery above.
