First $1 million prize won in Mass. lottery’s new $20 scratch ticket game

The first $1 million prize has been claimed in one of the Massachusetts State Lottery’s new scratch ticket games, and the winner said he knows exactly what to do with the cash.

Wemerson De Jesus, of Waltham, won the $1 million prize from the “Bonus 100X” scratch ticket game. The game was released on June 4, and costs $10 per ticket to play.

De Jesus chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes. He wants to use some of his winnings to travel, he told the lottery.

He bought his winning ticket at Highlander Farms, located at 69 Waltham St. in West Newton. The shop will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
