Fact check: No, undocumented immigrants can’t get Real IDs

While undocumented immigrants are able to apply for standard driver’s licenses under the state’s Work and Family Mobility Act, they are not eligible for Real IDs.

On May 7, 2025, U.S. travelers must have a Real ID in order to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities, unless they also have a passport, which is a suitable substitute.
