After a week of frigid conditions, residents of Massachusetts are getting some much-needed relief in the form of spring-like temperatures at the beginning of the work week.
Highs on Monday could warm up to the mid to high 40s, a few degrees above the normal temperature for late February. It will get even warmer on Tuesday, with temperatures in the upper 40s to mid-50s.
But the “spring-like feel … will be short-lived,” National Weather Service forecasters cautioned.
Still, the warmth should last until Thursday, with temperatures well into the upper 40s and low 50s through the beginning of the week. But cold weather returns Friday and into the weekend.
Some rain is possible amid the spring-time feel, with showers in the forecast for both Tuesday and Thursday. The unsettled weather pattern, combined with colder air settling in, is likely to lead to mixed precipitation for much of the state this weekend.
That said, forecasters have low confidence in the exact details of the weekend’s precipitation.
