A 42-year-old former doctor at St. Luke‘s Hospital in New Bedford was convicted of numerous criminal charges for sexually exploiting a 14-year-old boy in 2018, according to the Bristol County district attorney’s office.
Sujan Kayastha, of Dartmouth, was convicted of rape of a child aggravated by age difference, electronic enticement of a child for commercial sex, possession of child pornography, posing a child in the nude and sending obscene matter to a child, the district attorney‘s office said in a statement. Kayastha’s conviction followed a jury trial in Fall River Superior Court.
A judge sentenced him to 12 years in prison followed by five years of supervised probation.
