CHARLOTTE — Former Springfield Central football All-American Pop Watson made his second career start at quarterback for Virginia Tech on Friday in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl against Minnesota in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Hokies fell to the Golden Gophers, 24-10. Watson finished the game 8-for-12 passing for 81 yards and an interception. On the ground, Watson had nine rushing attempts for -32 yards and was sacked five times.
