The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is landing solidly on the side of free expression as it debuts “Free to Be…You and Me: 50 Years of Stories and Songs,” an exhibition marking the 50th anniversary of the revolutionary book that inspired children to look beyond traditional gender roles.
The exhibit was created exclusively for The Carle by New York curator Margi Hofer and draws attention to the “radical” messages published in the 1974 book. The presentation runs Nov. 16 to April 6, 2025 and is not scheduled to appear anywhere else.
