BOSTON — The Bruins’ solid start to Thursday’s game against the Sabres took a downturn near the midway point of the second period.
Elias Lindholm took a blind, legal hit from Buffalo center Jordan Greenway near the Bruins’ blue line and crumbled to the ice with 12:40 left in the second. Their legs appeared to collide.
Boston’s first-line center stayed down for a few moments as play was stopped and team medical staff came out to attend to him.
Lindholm was helped to his feet and off the ice with assistance from Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm. He went immediately down the tunnel to the Boston dressing room.
Early in the third, the Bruins announced he won’t return vs. Buffalo.
Lindholm, who has four goals and five assists this season, had played 9:37 when the injury occurred.
