Electrical aggregation program could arrive in Southwick in 6 months or less

SOUTHWICK — If all goes according to plan, residents might begin enjoying a reduction in their electricity bills by the end of the year, after the company the town contracted with to handle its municipal aggregation program filed the final application to the state Department of Public Utilities for approval.

‘Our hope is the town has the order in six months,” said Colonial Power Group Vice President Denise Allard last week.

On May 21, Colonial submitted a 164-page document to the DPU indicating that it and the town had fulfilled all the necessary steps to seek the energy agency’s final approval needed before the program can get up and running.
