Driver seriously hurt after car crashes in Cambridge during Saturday’s storm

One person was seriously injured from a car crash in Cambridge that happened while heavy storms passed through the area Saturday.

First responders were called to the crash on Memorial Drive just after 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, the Cambridge Fire Department said on Facebook. Cambridge police and Massachusetts State Police responded as well.

The Cambridge Fire Department said one person was treated onsite before being taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No other information about the crash was released.

The crash happened at the same time that the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch, which was active in the entire state until 9 p.m.

The eastern portion of the state got the most rain from Saturday’s storm with Andover and Boston getting over 3 inches, according to the weather service.

It was the fifth wettest day in the month of July in Boston, the National Weather Service added. The city got 3.07 inches while Andover got 3.18.
