The Red Sox made their first offseason addition to the bullpen Thursday, signing veteran left-hander Justin Wilson to a one-year, $2.25 million contract. The deal includes another $750,000 available in performance bonuses.
Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow recently highlighted velocity, strikeout rate and the ability to generate swing and miss as three areas where the Boston bullpen lacked compared to the league’s top bullpens last year. Boston is looking to add that this offseason.
