Despite only throwing for one touchdown and getting sacked three times, the Browns will give Shedeur Sanders another look in Week 14 against the Tennessee Titans.
When asked if Sanders would start next week, coach Kevin Stefanski answered with a simple, “yes.”
Sanders completed 16 of his 25 passes for 149 yards and one touchdown in Cleveland’s 26-8 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
“He’s battling like all of our guys are battling,” Stefanski told reporters. “I know there’s plays he wants back, but we’ll look at it and we’ll correct it.”
The rookie quarterback missed one play in the fourth quarter when he appeared to injure his foot, but it doesn’t appear it will hinder his availability for next week.
Sanders, who was drafted in the fifth round by the Browns in this year’s draft, made his first NFL start in last week’s 24-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
He came in relief of Dillon Gabriel against the Baltimore Ravens when the quarterback entered the NFL’s concussion protocol. Sanders went 4-of-16 for 47 yards and an interception.
Despite a rough start and a loss on Sunday, Sanders seemed more confident with the offense, and his 34-yard touchdown pass to Harold Fannin Jr. displayed the accuracy Sanders showed during the preseason.
