Star running back Dalvin Cook remains on the free agent market, but the New York Jets are currently making a strong push.
On Sunday, the former Minnesota Vikings star was spotted at the Jets’ open training camp practice as part of what the team called a “meet and greet.” According to multiple reports, Cook’s visit to the Jets was a positive one.

FOX Sports’ Henry McKenna reports that Cook had a “great visit” and that the Jets are working out the “finer details” of a potential deal. Meanwhile, ESPN’s Rich Cimini reports that Cook “enjoyed” his visit to Jets camp and spend “nearly the entire day” with the team. As Cimini notes, Cook left the facility without signing a deal, but notes that there is “mutual interest” between the two sides.
As training camp practices open across the league, the 27-year-old Cook is one of the few remaining free-agent prizes available on the market. After being cut by the Vikings earlier this offseason, Cook has been linked to a number of teams, but has yet to make a deal.
Cook has been linked to most of the AFC East at this point. The Miami Dolphins were quickly identified as a strong landing spot for Cook. However, the team’s reported contract offer has not resulted in a move. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots are rumored to be targeting Cook.
The Patriots are relatively thin at the running back position this year and appear to be seeking depth behind leading rusher Rhamondre Stevenson. The team has been sniffing around notable veterans this offseason, with former Dallas Cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott reportedly visiting New England.
