A man riding a bicycle died after being hit by a vehicle in Springfield Thursday evening, police said.
Officers went to Parker and Verge streets around 5:15 p.m. Thursday. The cyclist died of his injuries at the scene, according to Ryan Walsh, a spokesman for Springfield Police.
The driver who hit the cyclist fled the scene on foot, leaving the vehicle behind, Walsh wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter. Neither the driver nor the cyclist were immediately identified by police in the post.
