A woman from Connecticut who won $1 million playing the lottery in Massachusetts will use her prize for a rich meal.
Helena Greenleaf, of Thompson, Conn. won $1 million from the “$2,500,000 Merry & Bright” scratch ticket game by the Massachusetts State Lottery. The game costs $10 per ticket to play.
Greenleaf opted to receive her prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes when she claimed her winning ticket on Jan. 13.
She told the lottery she plans on buying herself “a nice lunch” and investing her prize.
Greenleaf bought her winning ticket at the Cumberland Farms located at 502 Washington St. in Auburn. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
