WESTFIELD — Councilors had several questions for proponents of merging the city’s facilities management office into the Purchasing Department during a meeting of the Legislative and Ordinance Committee on Wednesday.
Councilor William Onyski, who chairs the committee, said he needed to hear why the changes are necessary and how they benefit the city. Purchasing Director Tammy Tefft said her department already manages the budget for facilities and works on capital projects, and it makes sense to move the facilities director into a new Capital Planning, Projects and Procurement Department. The job currently reports directly to the mayor.
