City couple scammed out of $10,000

WESTFIELD – Police are investigating a scam that cost an elderly city couple $10,000 and are asking the public’s help in identifying a man believed to have been involved, according to Westfield Police Detective Jason Williams.

Last Friday, Williams said, the couple got a “cold call” from someone identifying themselves as an “lawyer” and that a family member had been arrested and $10,000 was needed to bail the person out of jail.
