An 11-year-old child was flown to a hospital after being hit by a car in Taunton on Monday night, police said.
The child was hit on Whitteneton Street, between Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue, Taunton Police Chief Edward Walsh said in a statement. Police were alerted to the crash by multiple 911 calls around 7:20 p.m. Monday.
When police arrived, they called for a medical helicopter to take the 11-year-old to a hospital, Walsh said.
The driver who hit the child stayed in the area following the crash and gave a statement to investigations, according to the statement.
The crash remains under investigation by Taunton police.
