The Celtics might not know their East Finals opponent until Sunday, but they do have their schedule finalized already. And in positive news for them, they get as much rest as possible before tipping off the conference finals.
The Timberwolves beat the Nuggets in Game 6 on Thursday in the West semifinals. So that means Game 7 of that series is set for Sunday in Denver. The result also guarantees the C’s won’t start the East Finals until 8 p.m. Tuesday at TD Garden.
The Celtics are still awaiting their opponent between the Knicks and Pacers, which New York currently leads 3-2. Game 6 of that series is set for 8:30 p.m. Friday in Indiana. If the Pacers force a Game 7, then that would be Sunday in New York.

The Celtics earned their third straight trip to the East Finals after beating the Cavaliers in five games. Not only that, but every other conference semifinals series has gone at least six games.
That means the C’s will be well-rested compared to whoever comes out of the other side of the East bracket. The C’s will also be heavily favored against either the Knicks or Pacers as they’ll be expected to advance to the NBA Finals for the second time in three seasons.
