Celtics parade: Time, route, what to know as duck boats roll through Boston

It’s parade day for the Boston Celtics as fans get set to descend on the city to help celebrate the franchise’s record 18th NBA Championship after ousting the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.

Another title means another duck boat parade through the streets of Boston as the Celtics get set to board the famous amphibious boats and greet fans who are expected to come out in droves to see Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Joe Mazzulla and the rest of the Celtics hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Here’s everything you need to know about Friday’s parade in Boston, including the start time, parade route, weather forecast and how to watch.

What time does the Boston Celtics championship parade start? – Friday’s parade will start at 11 a.m. local time. According to the Boston Police Department, the Rolling Rally will take 90 minutes to go from Causeway Street to the end of the parade on Boylston Street. BPD did not provide an ETA for when roads will reopen.

What is the parade route through Boston? – According to the city’s website, the parade will start on Causeway Street and then follow Staniford Street to Cambridge Street to Tremont Street to Boylston Street, before ending near the Hynes Convention Center.

What is the weather forecast for Friday in Boston? – According to the National Weather service, there is a chance of rain for the start of the parade. Temperatures are expected to rise from a low of 65 to a high of 84.

Will streets be closed? – Yes, the city of Boston will begin closing roads along the parade route starting at 9 a.m. on Friday.

How to watch the Celtics parade: TV channels and live stream info – Fans in the Boston TV market can watch coverage of the parade via their local TV stations, including:

  • NBC 10 (NBC Boston) starting at 5 a.m.
  • WCVB Channel 5 (ABC) starting at 10 a.m.
