Calling all aspiring actors: Here are some films, shows looking for talent around Boston

Want to find your soulmate or have a role in a feature film? Well, here’s your chance.

Thousands of casting calls are posted to the website Backstage every day. The site allows production companies to look for actors, performers, crew members, models and more.

The site features job listings in major cities from around the world, including Boston. Below is a list of some open casting calls that are seeking talent from the Boston area.

Woman, man wanted for drama/thriller

“Rage,” a feature film from Diane By Ten Productions, is about “a provocative pundit-turned-US-Senator” who struggles to escape after being kidnapped, the description on Backstage reads.

The production is looking to fill the roles of Lila, an aspiring Washington (D.C.) insider and lobbyist between 20-35 years old, and Hank, a longtime Washington lobbyist between the 35-60 years old. The film will shoot on Jan. 6 in Boston and Lexington. People interested in applying can click here.

Contestants on a match-making game

“Perfect Match” is looking for men and women willing to take part in a match-making game for social content. The contestants will be asked questions and can ask their own questions.

Contestants will be needed for at least five hours, the Backstage description states. The show shoots in Boston and key dates and locations will be provided at a later date. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Small role in feature film shooting in Boston, Salem

The feature film “A Garden Variety Mystery” is seeking an actor between the ages of 20-29 for the role of Daphne. The film follows Ivy, a college student who works as an amateur private investigator on the side.

The role of Daphne will be a day player, which is an actor hired on a daily basis and not on a long-term contract. Day players are also only on set for a day or two and have a few lines.

The film will host rehearsals on Zoom or Google Meet. Filming will be this month and January 2024 in Greater Boston. People can apply by clicking here.
