Bystanders helped save a driver who crashed their SUV into a tree in Barnstable early Sunday morning, according to multiple reports.
The crash happened around 3:35 a.m. at the intersection of Route 28 and Lumbert Mill Road in Barnstable, according to WCVB-TV. Firefighters from the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire Department found the SUV with significant damage to its front end from crashing into the three and a fire coming from the car’s engine compartment.
Bystanders helped the driver out of the car before firefighters arrived, according to NBC10 Boston.
The driver was taken to Cape Cod Hospital following the crash.
Firefighters eventually put out the blaze, which left the entire front end of the car charred, WCVB-TV reported.
The fire department said it did not have any information on the crash to release Monday morning.
