BOSTON — After Morgan Geekie scored his sixth goal in his last five games, David Pastrnak made a bold prediction about his Bruins teammate and linemate after Boston’s 5-2 win.
“He has everything to score 50 in this league,” said Pastrnak, who has one season over 50 and three between 45-49. “I keep reminding him, he has a heck of a shot and goal-scoring instincts.”
Geekie had a breakthrough year last year with 33 goals. He had 17 for the Bruins in 2023-24, his first in Boston after Seattle didn’t make him a qualifying offer. In two seasons with the Kraken, he never even reached 10 goals.
But everything clicked last year. Geekie’s goal total came despite a slow start. He had 25 of those goals after New Year’s.
Geekie has avoided that slow start this year. He has 8 goals already in 12 games, which puts him on pace for 54 this year. He has a goal in five straight games and his total is second in the National Hockey League.
“He’s going to get it one day. The shot he has is amazing,” Pastrnak said. “The best on our team. We just need to keep getting him the opportunities and reminding him to shoot more.”
