Bruins rule top six forward out of Tuesday’s exhibition

BOSTON — More players who are likely to be in the Bruins’ opening night lineup are expected to be in uniform for Tuesday’s exhibition game against the Flyers at TD Garden than any other preseason game this year.

But Elias Lindholm won’t be among them.

The center, who the Bruins signed as a free agent this offseason, returned to practice on Sunday and was a full participant on Monday after missing nine days with an undisclosed ailment. But Don Sweeney announced that Lindholm won’t make his debut in a Boston uniform until Thursday’s exhibition against the Kings in Quebec City at the earliest.

The Bruins open the 2024-25 season on Oct. 8 at Florida.

Whenever he gets out there, Cam Neely is excited about what he could bring.

“His 200-foot game is remarkable,” Neely said. “I mean, I don’t want to put him at the Patrice (Bergeron) category, but he’s, you know, Patrice-lite.”
