Boston Councilor Ed Flynn proposes ethics committee in wake of colleague’s arrest

At the first Boston City Council meeting since Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson was arrested by federal authorities and accused of running a kickback scheme, fellow Councilor Ed Flynn proposed creating a new committee focused on ethics.

Though councilors avoided mentioning the arrest during the meeting, Flynn filed the hearing order on Friday after the charges became public, alluding, in a statement at the time, to other scandals on the council in recent years.
