Dylan Lonergan will hope to add to O’Brien’s resumé in that department. The former Alabama quarterback, who committed to the Tide when O’Brien was the offensive coordinator is transferring to Boston College.

The 6-foot-2, 214-passer was a top 100 was a top 200 player and the No. 13 quarterback coming out of Snellville, Georgia. After redshirting last season, he played scarcely this year completing 5 of 6 passes for 23 yards. He would likely have been part of a quarterback competition at Alabama if Jalen Milroe declares for the NFL as expected.

Andrew Ivins of 24-7 Sports liked him coming out of high school and wrote:

A big-armed passer that isn’t afraid to stand his ground in the pocket and take a hit. Cleaner footwork allows him to establish a firm base and generate plenty of velocity. Shouldn’t be viewed as a run-first quarterback, but can improvise when plays break down and is rather accurate when on the move as he zips the ball into tight windows. Has worked primarily out of a single-back spread attack throughout prep career while playing in the Peach State’s second-highest classification.

Lonergan will likely compete with Grayson James, who became the Eagles starter late in the year, to be BC’s starting quarterback in 2025.
