Boston Celtics injury report: Jaylen Brown downgraded for Jazz game

The Celtics will be without Jaylen Brown when they face the Jazz to open a six-game road trip, though they’re healthy otherwise. Brown is listed as out with right knee posterior impingement. Xavier Tillman is also out with a left knee joint sprain.

Friday’s game will mark the second straight game Brown will sit out. He also missed Tuesday’s win over the Nets with the same injury designation. Notably, he also left last Saturday’s victory against the Nets early with low back spasms. Brown’s been banged up throughout the season, so this is also a chance for the Celtics to get him some rest.

Otherwise, the Celtics are healthy going into their road trip. They face the Jazz at 9:30 p.m. Friday in Utah before continuing their longest road trip of the season. Kristaps Porzingis continues to be fine after missing eight straight games due to an illness. The C’s have a back-to-back coming up in Portland then Sacramento, so expect them to stagger their guys so they have guys available for both games.

The Celtics are 50-19 on the season and on a three-game win streak. They have a unique situation where they only play three teams with a winning record over their final 13 games. Considering they’re also static in the standings, they can afford to rest guys while they also keep picking up wins.
