WooSox fans have plenty to be excited about on the field, with two of the team’s top three prospects beginning the year in Worcester, and the Red Sox boasting the best farm system in baseball. This season, they’ll also get the chance to grab some one-of-a-kind collectibles at the ballpark as they watch the Red Sox’ future stars take the field.
“With all the fun and the excitement and entertainment that we have here at the ballpark, I think it’s easy for us to sometimes sort of overlook the baseball side of things,” WooSox Vice President of Marketing, Steve Oliveira, said. “This year, the baseball is kind of back to the central focus and we’re so excited about that, and we’re looking to add to the excitement of that and highlight it further.”
The WooSox have given out keepsakes to fans in the past, and they have more on tap this season. A new addition to the giveaway schedule is a Kristian Campbell replica jersey on Sunday, April 27. Campbell, who made the MLB roster out of spring training, is one of the Red Sox’ top prospects and played for the WooSox for a few weeks at the end of 2024. Oliveira said fans have been asking for a jersey giveaway, and the WooSox obliged.
The team will also give away another replica jersey later in the season, though the player featured is TBD, and they’ll also have two bobblehead nights, with those featured players announced at a later date.
“I think it’s safe to tease out that Marcelo Mayer will be highlighted in some way, and some of the other players that we expect to make their way here as well,” Oliveira said. “It just adds an extra element of excitement.”
Friday nights are always well-attended at Polar Park, thanks in part to the UniBank fireworks show that takes place after every Friday night game. Each night of fireworks has a theme, and the WooSox are excited to add some fun new themes as they host more fireworks shows than any previous season.
“A couple of those that I’m kind of most excited for are our ‘Fangirl Fantasy’ one where we’re really highlighting like some of the big pop stars of today that especially young people are excited to hear,” Oliveira said. “That’s kind of growing off of our Taylor Swift-themed fireworks that we’ve done recently, so we’re looking forward to that one.”
On July 3rd, two of fans’ favorite kinds of nights will combine into one, as a patriotic-themed fireworks show is preceded by another special giveaway: a WooSox cowboy hat.
Other events fans can look forward to are cause awareness games. The WooSox have always designated certain games as cause awareness days, but they’re looking to add more to the calendar in 2025.
“We’ll continue to do ones that’ve done in the past like Deaf and Hard of Hearing awareness and Autism acceptance” Oliveira said, “and some new ones with heart health awareness, mental and behavioral health awareness, all those games that will support in various ways all those different and important causes that people really care about.”
The WooSox will also continue to give fans opportunities to meet their favorite players throughout the season. The best chance to do that is on Saturday, March 29, before the team’s 4:05 game, when players will sign autographs in the DCU Club from 2:00-2:45 p.m.. Additionally, after midweek matinee games, a player or two will be selected for a postgame autograph session.
As always, the WooSox want to hear fan feedback, and Oliveira says they do their best to make their supporters’ suggestions a reality.
“We listen to our, our fans, whether that’s here in the ballpark one-on-one, or in surveys that that fans answer, or in emails and phone calls that we get,” Oliveira said. “We do our best to really implement changes and ideas based on fan feedback. And some of those things have led to some real changes and real opportunities.”
