With major playoff implications, the Valley Blue Sox find themselves in a late-season doubleheader against a familiar foe in the Bristol Blues.
The Blue Sox dropped the first game of the doubleheader, 15-6, on Tuesday.
For Brad Alexander, it was his first start of the season. Ironically, his last and debut outing as a Blue Sox reliever came against the Blues, where he pitched a disaster inning. With aspirations to make amends, Alexander pitched more of the same standards on Tuesday. Without finishing the first inning, Alexander gave up six runs off three hits, five earned, and zero strikeouts. The Blues continued to haunt Alexander, and with playoffs swiftly approaching, it is hard to predict if Alexander will make another appearance as a member of the Blue Sox.
On the other side, the Bristol Blues grasped all the momentum at the start of this game, and never looked back. Easton Brenner and Joe Muzio led the way in the hitting department for Bristol, Brenner knocking in four runs, while Muzio scored three runs and tacked in two additional RBIs.
The Valley Blue Sox ended up scoring as many runs throughout the game, as the Bristol Blues scored in the first inning alone. An utter domination put on Bristol today, as they clinched the division with this one.
Valley will look to make amends and secure their playoff hopes as they will once again face Bristol for game two of this doubleheader at 6:45 P.M. With hopes of redemption, this game can be streamed on ESPN + and the NECBL Network.
